Peter Pan's Flight

Peter Pan's Flight is one of the original rides at Disneyland, so it has been there since 1955.
It is the first ride in Fantasyland when you come through the castle. I think that is why the line is ALWAYS super long. I am always shocked that even at 10:00 at night the line stays long. The ride is about 2 minutes long and takes you flying above London and Neverland. All ages can ride it.

The Magic the Memories and You

In the evenings at It's a small world, there is an amazing show projected on the face of the attraction. It is quite the sight to behold! It is a light show that incorporates photographs of park guests. Yep, you can be in the show! On our last visit a cast member took several photos of my children in Fantasyland and then informed us we may be in the show, and we were. Four out of five of my children were featured. It is a super cool show that you MUST see!

Casey Jr. Circus Train

This attraction opened back in 1955 and is based on the train from the movie Dumbo. It is located in the back of Fantasyland near Dumbo.
It is a perfect ride for all ages. My younger children really love this ride!
You can sit backwards in the caboose, or in an animal cage, or up front near the engine.
This is one of the rides that does not have crazy dips, darkness, or a scary villain. It is simply a fun train ride.

the brass spike

If you look closely just between the feet of both my boys you can see a brass spike. This spike is located just through Sleeping Beauty's castle in Fantasyland. It marks the exact geographical center of Disneyland (before Toontown was added). It is one of those things that thousands of people walk over daily and don't give a second thought to, but not us! And now you can find it too!
Next time you are in the park make sure to look for it!

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is an original, which means it was there the day Disneyland opened back in 1955. It is located right next to Peter Pan in Fantasyland.
The ride is based on the movie The Wind in the Willows. All ages can ride this ride, although as most Disney rides there is a little element of scary to it.

You get to ride in your own little car and pretend to steer. My children always fight over who gets to steer!

Alice in Wonderland

This ride is neatly tucked away in Fantasyland right next to the Mad Tea Party exit. Alice in Wonderland debuted in the park back in 1958. It is a tour through the movie with Alice following the white rabbit through Wonderland.

All ages can ride this ride. It is the last ride you see as you exit into the throughway to Tomorrowland, and if you are headed that way...
Here is a little tip...there are restrooms on your right as you head to Tomorrowland.

Storybook Land Canal Boats

This attraction is one of the original ones. Yep, it has been there since 1955. It has undergone updates and changes over the years to make it what it is today.
Most people skip this ride because it isnt a thrill ride, but we love it! It is a canal boat ride through miniature versions of all the classic Disney stories.
You board a canal boat and are "swallowed" by the great monstro the whale from Pinocchio. But, don't worry Monstro sneezed his tail off so you go straight through him.
One of the cool things about this ride is that there is a banzai tree here that Walt himself actually planted. And the last time we rode it the guide told us there is a break off of a tree that is over 100 years old.
This ride is in Fantasyland right located near Dumbo and Mad Tea Party. It is really cool to go on when its dark too.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle

One of the things that most people remember from their first trip to Disneyland is the castle. It has been there since the park opened in 1955. Everyone wants their picture taken on front of it, which makes it difficult to get a picture without dozens of extra people in the shot. The castle is the gateway to Fantasyland. Once you walk through it you are officially a little kid again.
Did you know that you can walk through the upper portion of the castle and see pictures of Sleeping Beauty herself?
We have found that if you go slightly off to the side it is easy to get a picture with no one else but you in the picture.

Matterhorn

The Matterhorn is hard to miss! When we exit the freeway in California, we can spot the Matterhorn and know that we are close to the park. Did you know that it is the first tubular steel continuous track roller coaster ever constructed? It made its debut in Disneyland in 1959. Did you also know that there was a basketball court inside the mountain? They took that down in 2001.

Guests ride in a bobsled through and around this giant mountain. Beware of the Abominable Snowman, his glowing eyes and growl scares most little ones.
Every year the Gibson Girl Ice Cream parlor sells enough ice cream to replicate the Matterhorn in solid Ice cream.
The best part about the Matterhorn is that the height restriction on it is 35 inches so its one of the first roller coasters all of my children get to ride. The picture above is Kate right after finishing the ride for the first time.

Mad Tea Party

The Mad Tea Party, aka the teacups are one of the original rides at Disneyland. If you get sick spinning in a circle, this ride is not for you!

We typically divide up into 2 groups...those who want to spin and those who do not.

I am among those who do not! It's one of those rides that you must ride at least once in your life. It is the standard Disney ride!

Small World

It's a Small World ride is in the back of FantasyLand. Small World opened in 1966 after spending 2 years at the Worlds Fair. It is a boat ride through the "world" with small dolls dressed in their native countries clothing. A cool tid bit here is that there are Disney characters throughout the ride. Three years ago these were added to the ride. For instance you will see Mulan in the China section of the ride.

When you enter the ride, always choose the right side of the line. This side goes over the ride and always moves faster. The left side of the line has the handicap loading area and you may have to wait for wheelchairs or disabled individuals to load and unload.
We always take a snack on the ride and enjoy the cool, dark and relaxing time inside the ride. The line on this ride moves quickly and is worth the wait!
Flash photography is discouraged in this ride so its hard to get a good picture.

Dumbo

Let's jump all the way over to FantasyLand to ride the Dumbo ride. Dumbo was one of the original rides at Disneyland. Although it was not opened until a few months after Disneyland grand opening, it is still considered an original ride.
On our vacations we usually have at least one early entry day, so we head straigt for FantasyLand. Peter Pan is the first ride we ride, with Dumbo a close second. Both of these rides are always crazy long lines!
The line for Dumbo is in the sun, so I recommend riding it early in the day before it gets hot, or later when its dark outside.
It does take a few minutes for all the riders to get situated so it gives you a chance to take photographs! Sometimes the cast members will even take your picture if you ask.

You have to be 8 to ride this ride alone. Children under 7 must be accompanied by another 14 years or older. This ride does go around in a circle and can make you feel a little dizzy.
