Insider trick
If you hate to wait in lines there is another trick you can do. It is called the "single rider" line. It means that you can wait in line as a group but you won't ride the ride with them. They use this line to fill in empty seats when groups of people have an odd number in the group. For instance, if there is a group of 5 people and the ride seats 6, they fill in the extra seat with the single rider line. It is a great option to skip to the front of the line! Here is a list of the attractions that give this option.
Splash Mountain
Indiana Jones
At the entrance to the ride, tell the cast member standing there you want to be a single rider. They will hand you a pass and give you directions on where to go.
California Adventure has more rides with single rider lines
Grizzly River Run
California Screamin
Soarin over California
Goofy's sky school
Radiator Racers
If single riding isn't for you, here is another tip. If the ride allows 4 in each car, break up your group into who is riding with who and if the cast member shouts out "party of 2" and one of your groups has 2 in it, skip to the front of the line. You can wait for the rest of your group at the exit. Very often the cast members are looking for small groups to "fill in" the rides and if you are willing to split your group into smaller groups, you can skip to the front.
